Fractions - basic ideas
What are fractions? What do fractions look like? What are equivalent fractions? What are the different types of fractions? This video explores all these concepts.Length: 26 minutes -
Fractions - adding and subtracting
This video shows how to add and subtract fractions with the same denominators, different denominators and with mixed fractions.Length: 22 minutes -
Fractions - Multiplying and Dividing
This video shows how to multiply fractions and how to divide fractions by turning the second fraction upside down.Length: 33 minutes -
Decimals
This video looks at decimals, and how they are related to fractions. It covers multiplying and dividing by 10, rounding to given numbers of decimal places or significant figures and finally looks at irrational numbers.Length: 44 minutes -
Percentages
In this unit we shall look at the meaning of percentages and carry out calculations involving percentages. It covers finding percentages, finding the original before a percentage change, expressing a change as a percentage increase or decrease. It also looks at the use of the percentage button on calculators.Length: 30 minutes -
Ratios
A ratio is a way of comparing two or more similar quantities, by writing two or more numbers separated by colons. The numbers should be whole numbers, and should not include units. This video shows how to approach ratio problems.Length: 25 minutes -
Rules of arithmetic
If a mathematical expression is complicated, it may not be clear which part of it should be evaluated first, and so some rules have been established. There are also rules for calculating with negative numbers. This video covers the rules of precedence, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing negative numbers.Length: 30 minutes -
Surds
Roots and powers are closely related, but some roots can be written as whole numbers. These are known as Surds. This video looks at how you can manipulate surds, simplify expressions involving surds and rationalising expressions involving surds.Length: 33 minutes

Numeracy Booklet (3) - Beginner Arithmetic Drills
This booklet contains 740 pages of arithmetic drills for the beginner mathematician. There are addition and subtraction squares, 1 and 2 digit arithmetic and an introduction to equations and include multiplication and division. They are ideal for the first 4 years of mathematics classes. All the answers are provided. -
Numeracy Booklet (4) More Arithmetic Drills
This booklet contains 240 pages of BEDMAS questions. They are ideal as random starters to a lesson or use them in class for more practise. Students must know what to do when confronted with an expression or equation that contains addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. What happens when brackets or exponents are involved? There is a definite order that these have to be processed in. By the end of these pages your students will have no doubt what that order is. -
Integers
This booklet covers the topic of Integers - what is an integer, ordering of integers, adding and subtracting integers and integer multiplication and division. All the work is placed into context with many real life examples of how we use integers and integer arithmetic in calculating temperatures, business surpluses and deficits, bank account balances and golf scores.
